Lazer – Canny Interface (Contactless connect)

CANNY is a CAN interface, developed by Lazer Lamps, which allow additional lighting to be installed in certain vehicles with CAN communication systems. This is possible, for example, when it is not possible to receive 12V light signals at the rear of the headlight. The system consists of a CANNY dongle, a wiring harness, and a dedicated app (CANNY.LZR). Thanks to the option to mount the dongle in the engine compartment of your vehicle for faster and easier installation, or in the vehicle itself. Wireless Bluetooth synchronization and updates further contribute to ease of use and installation speed.

The CANNY dongle is equipped with an automotive-standard Molex connector, guaranteeing a fully waterproof solution according to IP68 (IP64 for the contactless reader). IntegratedegrPre-design features and included cable ties facilitate assembly. Placement in the engine compartment is preferred due to ease of installation, but depends on the location of the CAN Hi/CAN Lo wires in the specific vehicle.

The connection to the vehicle's CAN wires is made via the supplied wiring harness. The blue (CAN Hi) and yellow (CAN Lo) wires are fitted with automotive-grade heat-resistant shrink tubing for a watertight connection. For customers who do not wish to cut the CAN Hi/CAN Lo wires, a version with a contactless reader is available. This allows vehicle data to be read without metal-on-metal contact between the interface and the vehicle's CAN wiring. The supplied wiring harness also includes a fused positive terminal connection and a ground wire. Additionally, there are 4 output wires, each programmable for different inputs: high beam, parking lights, ignition, reverse lights, etc., and compatible with all our vehicle wiring kits (waarbif the required output is >1 Ampere).

Activation, synchronization, and updates of your CANNY dongle are performed via the app. After gaining full access using your device's unique serial number and PIN, you can consult the installation manuals for your vehicle, pair the device, and assign and test the various lighting functions. Updates, for example after a car manufacturer has made changes to the CAN recipes, can also be performed via Bluetooth.
