Description

Underbody protection – Fuel and AdBlue Tank – Aluminium – Toyota ProAce Max 2024+

De Aluminum Bottom Plate Protection for Fuel and AdBlue Tank Toyota ProAce Max from 2024 is an efficient lightweight combination plate that in a single base plate two critical zones protects: the fuel tank and the AdBlue tank of the SCR system. Thanks to the 5 mm thick aluminium, this plate combines solid impact resistance with a significant weight advantage over the steel variant and complete resistance to rust. For ProAce Max owners who value weight savings (relevant for load capacity and fuel consumption) or corrosion resistance (relevant for road salt and coastal climates), this is the choice.

The advantages of a combination plate

Steeler has specifically designed this plate to both the fuel tank and the AdBlue tank to be covered in a single sheet. This offers several advantages compared to two separate sheets:

  • Continuous protection without uncovered intermediate zones between tank and tank
  • One product, one assembly – less assembly time and fewer mounting points
  • Lower total price then two separate plates together
  • Sleeker bottom finish – one plate often looks cleaner than two
  • Practical for commercial use where simplicity, reliability, and downtime reduction are central

Toyota ProAce Max: the large van on the Stellantis platform

De Toyota ProAce Max was introduced in 2024 as Toyota's large van — a segment above the regular ProAce. It is a Toyota-rebadge of the Stellantis large van platformThe ProAce Max shares its bodywork and technology with:

  • Citroën Jumper
  • Peugeot Boxer
  • Fiat Ducato
  • Opel Movano (from 2021)

The ProAce Max is therefore a competitor to other large vans such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter / MAN TGE, Renault Master and Ford Transit.

Why protect the fuel tank separately?

The fuel tank is located relatively low under the vehicle, making it one of the most exposed components. Damage to the tank has consequences that extend beyond mere replacement costs:

  • Fuel leakage – your vehicle is out of service immediately; commercial activities are at a standstill
  • security risk – escaping diesel may come into contact with a hot exhaust or sparks
  • Environmental damage – an empty tank on a public road leads to soil and water pollution with a reporting and remediation obligation
  • Costly replacement – a new fuel tank for a large van easily runs into €1.500 or more
  • MOT failure – any damage to the tank or fuel lines will result in immediate rejection
  • Downtime costs for commercial use

What is AdBlue and why protect?

AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution that is injected into the exhaust system of modern Euro 6+ diesel engines as part of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. It reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions to legally permitted levels. Without a functioning AdBlue supply, your vehicle does not meet emission standards — and modern engine management systems will then limit power or eventually prevent the vehicle from starting.

Damage to the AdBlue tank can lead to:

  • Leaking AdBlue tank – the system detects fluid loss and puts the engine in “limp mode”
  • Final refusal to start – modern engine management systems block starting attempts
  • Costly replacement – a new AdBlue tank easily costs €300 to €800 or more
  • MOT failure in case of leakage or visible damage to emission components
  • Downtime costs – critical for a large commercial delivery van

Does your ProAce Max have AdBlue?

The ProAce Max is a Euro 6+ vehicle and will have an AdBlue system in virtually all diesel versions. You can recognize this by:

  • Create a AdBlue filler cap (often next to or near the fuel filler cap, usually marked in blue)
  • Create a AdBlue tank under the vehicle
  • Create a AdBlue level meter in the instrument panel
  • Mention "Euro 6" of “AdBlue” in the vehicle registration certificate

Does your ProAce Max not have an AdBlue system? Then this product is not suitable for you — please contact us before purchasing.

Vehicle-specific for the ProAce Max 2024+

This combination plate is specifically designed for the Toyota ProAce Max from model year 2024 — the Stellantis large van platform in its most recent Toyota-version. The chassis mounting points, fuel tank position, and AdBlue tank position align exactly with this version, allowing for installation without modifications to the bodywork.

Why an aluminum base plate?

Aluminium combines solid protection with a number of properties that steel does not offer — properties that are particularly attractive for a large commercial van like the ProAce Max:

  • Significantly lighter than steel – relevant for fuel consumption and effective payload (crucial for large vans)
  • Corrosion resistant – resistant to rust, ideal for the use of road salt in winter, coastal climates, and agricultural applications with fertilizers
  • Solid impact resistance – due to the greater material thickness (5 mm compared to 3 mm steel), the protection remains at the same level
  • No maintenance on the material itself – no periodic rust treatment required
  • Premium look – aluminium looks premium than steel, a plus for representative company vehicles

Who chooses aluminium over steel?

Aluminium is particularly attractive for applications where weight or corrosion outweighs absolute impact resistance:

  • Transport and logistics companies with high mileage – every kilo less weight under the vehicle translates into lower fuel costs over years of intensive use
  • Fleet and business users – weight saving and no maintenance on the material itself
  • Vehicles deployed in coastal or winter climates – where road salt and salt deposits attack corrosion-sensitive parts
  • Camper conversions on the ProAce Max platform – every kilo less dead weight under the vehicle counts towards the effective load capacity
  • Moving and transport companies with intensive effort
  • Representative vehicles – where visibility under the vehicle matters (showrooms, demo units, premium commercial vehicles)

Fully protected: combine with the engine compartment plate

This combination plate is intended as addition on the engine compartment protection of your ProAce Max. We also carry the in our range Steel or Aluminium Underbody Protection for the Engine Compartment of the ProAce Max 2024+. For those who wish to assemble the complete package in aluminium, the aluminium engine compartment plate can be combined with this aluminium fuel+AdBlue combination plate — for complete lightweight and corrosion-resistant underbody protection.

Custom designed

The plate is shaped to precisely follow the contours of both the fuel tank and the AdBlue tank of the ProAce Max, while maintaining ground clearance. This ensures a tight fit to the chassis structure and prevents interference with fuel lines, AdBlue lines, vents, level sensors, or tank mounting straps.

What is this base plate used for?

The ProAce Max is a versatile large van for heavy professional use, whicharbwhere combined fuel and AdBlue protection provides added value:

  • Transport and logistics companies – large-scale freight transport over various surfaces
  • Moving companies – intensive deployment across residential areas, construction sites, and curbs
  • Courier and parcel deliverers – large-volume deliveries to companies, warehouses, construction sites
  • Construction companies and contractors – deployment on construction sites, sites with rubble and metal scraps
  • Camper conversions – ProAce Max camper builds for long journeys
  • School bus and care bus companies – passenger transport
  • Mobile workshops – large versions for heavy tools or inventories
  • Vehicle fleet companies – where reliability and downtime limitation are critical
  • Heavy transport for agricultural sectors – livestock and machinery transport
  • Truck replacements – companies making the transition from truck to large delivery van

The benefits at a glance

  • 5 mm thick aluminium – solid impact resistance at reduced weight
  • Corrosion resistant – no rust formation, no maintenance on the material itself
  • Combination plate – protects fuel tank AND AdBlue tank in a single plate

Installation

For correct alignment and a tight connection to the fuel and AdBlue tank zone, we recommend installation in a professionally equipped workshop. Correct alignment is essential to prevent interference with fuel lines, AdBlue lines, vents, level sensors, and the securing straps of both tanks. A combination plate is more efficient to install than two separate plates, but requires careful placement due to the larger surface area and the double zone. The lower weight compared to the steel variant makes this aluminum plate easier to handle. Our technicians will be happy to assist you further via our installation service.

Important issues

  • Vehicle: Toyota ProAce Max, model year 2024 and later
  • Platform: Stellantis large van platform — same basic structure as Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Fiat Ducato and Opel Movano (from 2021)
  • Engine and emission standard: presumably Euro 6+ with AdBlue (not explicitly by Steeler confirmed) — for other versions, contact us before purchasing
  • ProAce Max without AdBlue? Not suitable — contact us before purchasing
  • Electric ProAce Max? Not suitable – no fuel tank or AdBlue system
  • Choice of material: aluminum is corrosion-resistant and lighter, while steel offers slightly more impact strength in the same price range.
  • Maintenance: Check the mounting bolts regularly, especially after heavy off-road use.
  • Additional protection: covers fuel tank and AdBlue tank; for the engine compartment, we recommend additional plates
  • Specifications: For exact weight, material thickness, technology, dimensions, or assembly time, please contact us.
