Important information from Ford Motor Company

• To maintain the structural integrity of the cargo bed, it is recommended Ford to install reinforcement brackets (J-brace) when installing accessories on the cargo bed rail.
• In practice, this means that in the case of accessories (e.g. hardtops) that protrude above the side wall of the cargo box and weigh more than 45 kg, the installation of a reinforcement J-brace is required. The relevant part is shown in blue in the image.
• Ford sells these brackets as aftermarket service parts available under the following codes:
