Important information from Volkswagen Company cars

• To maintain the structural integrity of the cargo bed, Volkswagen the installation of reinforcement brackets (J-brackets) when mounting accessories on the loading bed rail.

• In practice, this means that for accessories (e.g., hardtops) that protrude beyond the side wall of the loading platform and weigh more than 45 kg, a reinforcement bracket (J-bracket) must be installed. The relevant part is shown in blue in the image.

• Failure to install the brackets may void the manufacturer's warranty.
